Defensive end Marcus Hyde announced his signing with the B.C. Lions on Twitter: “IT’S OFFICIAL BABY!”

“IT’S OFFICIAL BABY! Just signed my contract with the BC Lions of the CFL!”

So did defensive end Marcus Hyde tweet on Thursday, informing the world that he is now a B.C. Lion.

But that declaration brings up an interesting question: Is the signing official because the player says it is, or official only when the football club acknowledges ...
