Tracking CFL free agency Friday

9:20 a.m. – We’re just under an hour away from the gates opening on free agency in the CFL. What does that mean? It could mean that as soon as 10 a.m. hits, the league could go into a contract-signing frenzy, where pretenders become contenders and the balance of power in the league is turned upside down, all in a matter of minutes.

Or, the opening moments of free agency could be like last year where nothing really happened for the first few hours and gradually names started landing on new rosters and the day picked up from there.

For whatever happens in the next hour and the next several hours, I’ll be here with my laptop in front of me and TSN on mute until they stop looping SportsCentre (the Cabbie/Evander Kane Valentine’s Day clip is still pretty funny several views in). Like I did last year, I’ll keep Eskimos news at the forefront and if anything substantial happens around the league, I’ll update accordingly. Newest info will go to the top and I’ll time stamp each new entry.

In the meantime, have fun following the action on Twitter (hashtag is #CFLFA13). Some key links are below:

For an Esks slant, here’s audio to the sit down interview Ed Hervey had yesterday with myself, Edmonton Sun beat guy Gerry Moddejonge and 630 CHED’s radio tandem of Morley Scott and Dave Campbell to preview free agency and to discuss where his team was at roster-wise before contracts were set to expire. You can check out my story off of that interview here.

Finally, here’s one last look at the Eskimos’ free agent status this morning, via the CFL’s free agency tracker.
