A move to cut a Grey Cup winning quarterback could be the last piece of the puzzle for Mike Benevides as he attempts to stitch together his coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Though there’s nothing official yet, a move today by the Toronto Argonauts to release former Lions quarterback Jarious Jackson could be the final link. Jackson is expected to be named quarterbacks and receivers coach for the Lions, possibly as early as today.

B.C has had its eye on Jackson for the last several weeks, waiting for the Toronto Argonauts to make a move on the former backup. Jackson did exactly as he was asked with the Argos last year, which was back-up Grey Cup MVP quarterback Ricky Ray, just as he did for Travis Lulay and the Lions the year previous. However, Toronto released Jackson today. The Lions won’t likely wait long to make a move.
