It was a hot one at Riders practice on Thursday and I’m not only talking about the heat.

Tempers were a short as there was one scrap and words were exchanged between two other players. Tackle Chris Patrick and defensive tackle Tearrius George both went at and had to be separated by teammates. Linebacker Tyrone Brackenridge and another receiver, who I couldn’t identify because he was wearing a scout team bib, also had words after a long passing play.

Shortly after that head coach Corey Chamblin stopped practice and gathered the players around him. He told us later that he didn’t mind the players playing on the edge, but didn’t want that carry over between teammates. Chamblin wants them to save it for the Lions on Saturday.

In other news:

- Guard Brendon LaBatte remains a game-time decision and it’s still up to him. If LaBatte feels he can play, then he’ll play.

- We didn’t get into a lot of the roster moves for some reason. I guess it was the heat. The roster should be set later today and we’ll see what they come up with on Friday. Sorry about that.

- There are words coming. I delve (I love that word) into the man behind the public persona of Odell Willis as our main for Friday. I also talked to Chris Milo about leading the CFL in net punting average.

- I hear there are approximately 1,600 seats remaining and many are together if you’re interested in attending.
